A 15-year-old student from Avondale College in Auckland has been named the Microsoft Office Specialist World Champion for PowerPoint.
Tristan Mona emerged the winner among 760,000 competitors from all over the world. He went to Orlando, Florida for the final round where he beat 152 candidates from 52 countries, making him the best of the best at Microsoft PowerPoint.
In the 17 years Certiport has been holding this competition, this is the first time New Zealand has won first place.
Tristan paid tribute to Avondale College’s tech department’s Innovation Programme for presenting him with the opportunity, pushing him to achieve his best and “promoting the winner’s mentality”. He says it took a lot of hard work to achieve the award.
“But I think this is an example of when hard work really pays off,” he says of his accolade.
