Event Details

For equity and social impact: Games for learning He takaro, he huarahi ako

NZCER’s 2017 conference is on Thursday 31 August and Friday 1 September at Te Papa Tongarewa in Wellington.

Featured speakers: Dr. Yasmin Kafai, University of Pennsylvania

Dr. Bron Stuckey, Arizona State University

Harko Brown, educator, author, and expert on Maori traditional games

The conference explores the potential of games — ancient and modern — to enrich learning.  Games have the power to engage people’s hearts, minds, and bodies, so why wouldn’t we use them to support better, richer, and deeper learning?   The speakers and workshops look at games from diverse perspectives, and encourage conversation between educators, researchers, policy makers, developers, and social entrepreneurs.
