The application deadline for the Ministry of Health’s Hauora Maori Scholarships has almost closed. Application will not be accepted after 5pm Friday 27 March 2020 and must be submitted online.
The Hauora Maori Scholarship programme offers financial assistance to students who are undertaking or completing a course in health and disability studies. This can be an NZQA (New Zealand Qualifications Authority) accredited course at level seven, or above graduation, or health care worker training at level three or above at a recognised tertiary provider.
Not only providing assistance, the Hauora Maori Scholarship Programme has been put in place to achieve greater participation by Maori in the health and disability workforce, and to help ensure the delivery of quality health services for Maori.
The scholarships are accessible to any person who is enrolled and attending a university, polytechnic, wananga or private training establishment in New Zealand, and has whakapapa or cultural link with te ao Maori or Maori communities. The applicant must also demonstrate a commitment to Maori health and well-being studies and is studying a course that will equip them for the Maori health and disability workforce.
