How to train:
There are three areas that game developers work in: game programming, game art and game design. The entry requirements depend on those areas.
If you want to work in game programming, you usually need a bachelor’s degree in computer science or software development/engineering.
If you want to work as a game artist or designer, you are usually required to have a degree or a diploma in 2D and 3D animation, media design, animation or game art and development.
What education is required?
You need to have a tertiary entrance qualification to enter tertiary training.
Useful subjects are maths, physics, and computing (game programming) and art, graphics and design (game art).
Other things you need to know:
As a game developer, it is important to be creative and to have an eye for detail. You should be able to work under pressure since the job often involves meeting deadlines. You also have to be a good communicator, both oral and written.
Your job will include spending a lot of time using computers and video game equipment so you must have the appropriate technical knowledge.
You will usually work business hours and will be working in offices or studios.
