A new global, digital campaign designed to appeal to prospective students who are attracted to New Zealand’s progressive and inclusive society was launched this week by Education New Zealand (ENZ).

“The campaign, ‘Ask New Anything’, connects students interested in coming to New Zealand with real people who have personal experience with a New Zealand education,” ENZ Chief Executive Grant McPherson, says.

It features students, parents and teachers providing unscripted answers to the questions that prospective students really want to know about studying and living in New Zealand. The 100 video questions are determined by market research, Google search, social media questions and chatbot data. The responses can be found on ENZ’s Study in New Zealand platforms, including Tohu the chatbot, Facebook and WeChat.

‘Ask New Anything’ is ENZ’s most technologically advanced campaign yet.

“The campaign showcases New Zealand’s innovative approach and our values of openness and manaakitanga,” McPherson says.

“It will help distinguish New Zealand education as high quality, and focussed on developing the student as a whole person.

“We are more closely aligning efforts to attract international students here with New Zealand’s cross-government International Education Strategy.”

The New Zealand International Education Strategy 2018-2030 was developed by government to create a new vision for international education and its contribution to New Zealand. Its three goals are based on delivering an excellent education and student experience, sustainable growth and global connectivity including for New Zealanders.

“This campaign reflects that in a world that needs constant progress – New Zealand brings new thinking.”

International education contributed NZD$5.1 billion to the domestic economy in 2017/18 and was New Zealand’s fourth most valuable export sector.
