Results for the 2017 New Zealand Scholarships have been released.
Students can check their results on the New Zealand Qualifications Authority’s website.
New Zealand Scholarship financially rewards students with the top grades who are going on to full-time tertiary study in New Zealand.
More than 9800 students entered New Zealand Scholarship last year across 35 subjects and 2413 students were awarded one or more scholarships.
Awards range from $500 for achieving a scholarship in one subject to $30,000 for the top handful of candidates who get at least three scholarships at outstanding level in the same year.
The prize for the premier award is doled out at $10,000 a year for three years as long as the student gets at least a B-grade average for each year.
Scholarship students are assessed on high-level critical thinking, abstraction and generalisation skills. Successful students can also integrate, synthesise and apply knowledge, skills, understanding and ideas to complex situations.
NZQA deputy chief executive Kristine Kilkelly said the results were eagerly anticipated.
“NZQA congratulates all scholarship recipients on their well-deserved achievements.”
The names of Premier Award, Outstanding Scholar Award and Top Scholar Award winners will be announced tomorrow.
