The Total Mobility Card provides disabled card holders an opportunity for those who have been almost entirely isolated to leave their homes. The Ministry of Transport has allowed for all trips under $80 to be completely free, whereas previously it was necessary to pay for half a trip.

From Tuesday 14 April until 30 June 2020, Total Mobility Card holders will be able to continue to use their cards for essential travel. This includes travelling to and from the supermarket, the pharmacy or medical appointments, and moving children between shared bubbles.

In addition, Metlink will continue to provide free public transport (buses and trains) throughout the Greater Wellington Region. The rail service will be run on a weekend timetable until 4 May 2020, and the bus service will be operating on a regular timetable from next Tuesday (as we move into Level Three). The free public transport will continue until June 2020 at this stage.

It is also possible to refund an April, May or June monthly rail pass that has already been purchased. This can be arranged via the Metlink website.
