New Zealand’s next top models are being scouted straight out of Whanganui.

Wanganui Collegiate student Jaime Maybery is the first from Whanganui agency Embrace Model Management to be signed with a top dog in Auckland.

The 14-year-old will met with the director of N Model Management and prominent Maori model Ngahia Williams on Saturday in Auckland,

Model scouter, Amanda Betts, said Jaime would be exposed to what the industry was really like.

“Ngagia has travelled all over the world for modelling and she knows the work and sacrifice that’s involved.

“Auckland is also the modelling capital of New Zealand so it’s an amazing step in the door for her.”

Jaime said she had wanted to be a model since she could remember and had always had an interest in fashion.

“I love watching Next Top Model, fashion shows and Victoria’s Secret models – and it would be awesome to have the opportunity of being recognised as well as a fun experience.”

Ms Betts said young people from all corners of the country were being seen and given the opportunity to be put on an international spotlight.

“This weekend it will be all about getting her ready for possible jobs overseas – like preparing for a job.”
